PlayStation 4 update proves controversial

Since last week, you can download the PlayStation 4 system update 8.0.0 for the popular game console. Overall, Sony is making significant changes, but not every change may please, of course. For example, it is now possible to use two-step verification in combination with a third-party application, such as Google Authenticator or Authy. With two-step verification you provide an extra layer of security for your online account (s), so that people with your login details (whether legally obtained or not) cannot log in without an extra generated code.

You can also count on new avatars and simplified parental control settings. For example, as a parent or guardian you can set in which games your children can chat online. A child can request permission from parents, which can then be granted. It can also be determined whether a child can view content created by other players.

Those are all fine changes, but another adjustment is less satisfying: Sony has made an attempt to merge parties and chats on the PlayStation 4, probably in preparation for the release of the PlayStation 5. If you want a new party now To start, you must first create a new group. You can start such a party by means of a group message for invited friends. Unfortunately, that means that you have to create a new group for each party. For example, do you play a lot with two friends, but do you want to play with only one of the two? Then you first have to create a new group and send an invitation; you cannot arrange that in an existing chat.

In addition, some problems have also surfaced. Users report that their friend lists are no longer working properly. It is more common for an update to cause problems on PlayStation, but a patch often appears shortly after those problems are discovered.
