One of the updates Apple TV owners are looking forward to is the ability to play YouTube videos in 4k.
YouTube in 4k on Apple TV
That is possible thanks to the tvOS 14 update. However, when the update for the operating system was released in September, the option was missing. And now it looks like the option is finally arriving. Both report that FlatpanelsHD as few users on Reddit. Users report that they will see the option to display in 4k when playing videos within the YouTube app on the Apple TV 4K.
This applies to both the publicly available version of tvOS 14 and the tvOS 14.2 beta. Other users say the opposite, which gives rise to the idea that it is a server-side update – you as a user cannot download an update and have to wait for Google to roll out the update.
However, when the button is switched, you can watch YouTube videos in 4k at 30 fps. If you want to see a video in 50 or 60 fps, the resolution will be reduced to 1440p. In addition, it is reported that the hdr option is still not available. It is not known why there are any restrictions. It may be that Apple wants to keep such options for a new model of the Apple TV, it may also be that those options will be made available in a later update.
