Yamaha launches compact RX-S602 AV receiver with MusicCast

Yamaha introduces its latest slimline model av receiver with the RX-S602. The 5.1-channel network receiver’s compact housing (111mm high) contains various new standards and technologies, including HDR (with Dolby Vision), CINEMA DSP 3D, YPAO calibration and Yamaha’s MusicCast for a multiroom network.

The RX-S602 thus supports MusicCast so that you can make the device part of the multiroom network. High-res audio formats such as FLAC (92 kHz / 24-bit) and WAV (192 kHz / 32-bit) or Apple Lossless (96 kHz / 24-bit) are also supported, if desired throughout the house. The new MusicCast surround technology also makes it possible to extend the home cinema sound via the MusicCast 50 or MusicCast 20 and the wireless subwoofer MusicCast SUB 100.

CINEMA DSP 3D delivers with Virtual Speaker- technology three-dimensional sound without actually having physical speakers. For example, a 5.1 system must sound like a 7.1-channel set-up. For a livelier sound, the Yamaha Compressed Music Enhancer, which has been optimized especially for improving music in Bluetooth playback,

The receiver has four HDMI inputs, all with support for 4K Ultra HD and HDR (Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10). In addition, the model features an integrated DAB / DAB + tuner, automatic calibration (YPAO) with the included microphone, and support for streaming services such as Spotify, Napster and Deezer. With the AV Controller app, all functions and settings of the RX-S602 can be further controlled via the smartphone or tablet. This also applies to the CINEMA DSP 3D programs with customized sound profiles for films, music and video games.

Pricing and availability

The Yamaha slimline AV receiver RX-S602 will be available in the retail trade in the colors from September 2018. black, titanium and white. The prize will be announced later.
