The Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has announced its new smartphone. It concerns the Xiaomi Mi 11. This is the first phone with a Snapdragon 888 processor, which is also not in the high end segment. The phone is currently only available in China.
Xiaomi Mi 11
Xiaomi Mi 11 has a 6.8-inch OLED screen and a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. The screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch response of 240Hz. The device comes with a new cooling system, a working memory of 8 to 12 gigabytes and storage of 128 or 265 gigabytes. The phone should be able to survive a day at least on the 4,600 mAh battery.
If the device needs to be charged, this can be done very quickly: the phone is completely full again in 45 minutes thanks to charging at 55 Watt (and wirelessly at 50 Watt in 53 minutes). There is something striking about the charging with wire: where Xiaomi previously criticized Apple that it would no longer supply a charger with the device, the Chinese telephone supplier is now also talking about this. There will be a release with and without charger.
MIUI 12.5
In terms of cameras, Xiaomi Mi 11 includes a 108 megapixel main camera, a 13 megapixel wide-angle camera and a 5 megapixel telephoto macro sensor. The device can record in 8K image quality and it has a night mode for when you take an evening walk or are in a less well-lit room. The selfie camera is 20 megapixels and sits like a hole punch in the top corner of the device, which runs on Android with Xiaomi shell MIUI 12.5.
A nice milestone for Xiaomi, to be the first smartphone supplier to show the Snapdragon 888 in a phone that costs less than 600 euros. The processor is expected in many smartphones to be announced in 2021. Xiaomi Mi 11 will only be available in China from January 1. Xiaomi is currently unable to say whether it will also release the smartphone in other countries. Mi 11 comes out in white, blue and black, plus vegan leather in purple and khaki. The cheapest model is converted 500 euros.
