Netflix introduces a new category where new and popular shows are all in one place, so you know what to watch.
Netflix new category: New & Popular
The video streaming service Netflix announces that a new category is coming to the service: New and Popular. The section will only appear on TV devices and will be rolled out to users from now on. It is unclear whether the update will also come to the Netherlands; in the past, the company has made some interface changes worldwide, so it likely is now. New & Popular merges some rows of content.
The section merges the content rows New to Netflix, Coming Soon, and the Top 10. The latter row was introduced last February and has been updated daily. Also, New and Popular will get a new row called The Waiting Waard, where subscribers will encounter series and movies that are, well, worth the wait according to the video streaming service. You will see previews of content that will appear on the platform within fifteen to 365 days.
The latter row will probably be the most important. Subscribers can already set reminders for themselves that a certain show or film is coming. This may prevent them from canceling their subscription, even if there is no interesting offer for a while. Despite the fact that Netflix was able to add ten million new subscribers in the past quarter, the company is also losing customers. That is why it is increasingly important to focus on what is to come, especially now that the competition is also focusing more on original content.
