LG OLED TV line-up 2021 with OLED Evo, 8K and webOS 6.0

LG OLED TV line-up 2021: LG TV has announced its OLED TV line-up for the year of 2021 which include many exciting models and some great features

LG OLED TV line-up 2021 : LG presented its OLED TV line-up for 2021 today during CES 2021. The South Korean manufacturer comes with the A1, B1, C1, G1 and Z1 series. All models feature HDMI 2.1, webOS 6.0 and the fourth generation Alpha 9 processor. The Z1 series has the 8K resolution, while the G1 series comes with a new OLED panel that offers a higher brightness.

LG OLED TV line-up 2021

In the 2021 OLED TV line-up from LG, we see various innovations, the most important of which is called ‘OLED Evo’. This is a new OLED panel that is 20 percent more efficient than the current OLED panels and therefore enables higher brightness. However, this new panel is only coming to the 2021 G1 series, consisting of 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch models. The G1 series can be compared to the GX series from last year: the screen is very slim and can be hung on the wall like a painting.

The Z1 series is the 8K resolution series and consists of 77-inch and 88-inch models. These televisions have to do without the OLED Evo panel, but come with the same features and possibilities as the lower series. The C1 series is available in 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch and 83-inch sizes. The A1 series consists of sizes from 48-inch to 77-inch and comes with the less powerful Alpha 7 Gen 4 processor. There is still talk of a B1 series with a less powerful processor, but details about this are still scarce. All models in the G1, C1, B1 and A1 series offer the 4K resolution.

Also new is the Gallery floor stand, which can be purchased optionally with the G1, C1 and A1 models. This applies to all models HDMI 2.1 is present on four inputs, including support for HFR (4k120), VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync. All game settings can be centrally controlled via the ‘Game Optimizer’ mode. The G1 and C1 models also offer an ‘OLED Motion Pro’ (BFI) function for an even smoother display.

The OLED TVs in the Z1, G1 and C1 series come with the Alpha 9 Gen 4 “AI” video processor. According to LG, this fourth generation processor should be a bit more powerful than the third generation and can be found in all OLED TVs in the C1 series or higher. The processor uses deep learning to better display all types of content and to optimize image quality. AI Picture Pro recognizes objects and people on the screen and can separate foreground and background, to give the image more depth and dynamics. Finally, the processor also includes the audio reproduction. Auto Volume Leveling ensures that the volume doesn’t change drastically when switching between apps or channels, while AI Audio Pro can convert audio to 5.1.2-channel virtual surround sound.

In the field of smart TV, LG is releasing webOS 6.0 this year. This new version of the platform is only coming to the 2021 televisions for the time being. The most important change is reflected on the home screen. This used to be a bar at the bottom of the screen, placed over the content you are watching. Within webOS 6.0 the home screen is now a full screen dashboard, called ‘New Home’. The reason behind this full-screen dashboard, according to LG, is that we want to find interesting content faster and faster. With a dashboard that contains a lot of information, LG can offer us films, apps, series and other forms of content faster. This is done based on the viewer’s preferences and viewing history.

In addition, LG is introducing a new Magic Remote remote control for its 2021 televisions. Although the remote looks a bit less slick than the previous generation of Magic Remotes, the functionality is the same. You can point to parts on the screen with the remote control and select them with the push of a button. The new remote comes standard with voice control via Alexa or the Google Assistant. Buttons for Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prima and ‘LG Channels’ have also been added. According to LG, the new remote should also be better in hand than its predecessor. Finally, the remote control has NFC, so that content can be shared from a smartphone with the TV with a simple touch.

Other important features of the 2021 OLED TVs from LG are support for HDR (HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision), support for Dolby Atmos and the presence of Apple AirPlay 2, Google Assistant, the Filmmaker Mode and HGiG.
