Game demos on Google Stadia

Let’s face it: game streaming hasn’t really started yet. Google is doing its best with Google Stadia, Nvidia with Geforce and Amazon has now launched the Luna service in beta, but game streaming services have not yet had much of an impact on the industry. The advantage of a company like Google is that a lot of money can be thrown at it to see what gets people over the line. Game demos are popular with gamers (at least when it was given away with games), so this is something the search engine giant is trying out right now.

From now on you can try out Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle on Google Stadia, completely free. You don’t need a Stadia Pro subscription, nor do you need to register a credit card or the like. The demos of the games will remain available for seven days, so you have a fair amount of time to check if the game – or the service – is for you. What you need to do is the following:

  • You click on this link to go to the Pac-man game
  • Create a Stadia account if you don’t already have one
  • You start playing

This is a nice attempt by Google to get game streaming to the man. The user base is not very large, and there are some concerns about that, so it’s good to see that you can try out games at least in part. You can immediately check whether your internet connection is good enough.

Furthermore, the demo of the game Humankind will now also be released, while we can expect a demo of the Ubisoft title Immortals Fenyx Rising next week. Oh and one more related, fun news: the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be playable on the service from November 17.
