During the Tech Summit of Liberty Global, parent company Ziggo, the company has a new media box announced called Horizon 4. It is the intention that this new box will be rolled out to customers next year. The Horizon 4 will later offer support for 4k, high dynamic range and Dolby Digital. The hardware also has to be smaller, more economical and of course quieter than the current model. The device does not have its own hard drive. Recorded programs are stored in the cloud.

Furthermore, the new model comes with a new interface and a remote control with a microphone. You can use the microphone to give voice commands in Dutch. Unfortunately it is, and this came out outside that the Horizon 4 will have fewer connections – for example, there is only one ethernet connection. There will also be new Ziggo Go software, which makes it possible to continue watching programs on mobile phones that have been started up on normal television.

When Horizon 4 is coming to everyone in the Netherlands, it is still unknown. The Liberty Global press release states that a select group of people will first have to deal with the media box in the coming months and that the other customers will have a turn later.
