Yamaha introduces the new speakers MusicCast 20 and MusicCast 50 this week, and as the name suggests, both models come with MusicCast functionality.
Yamaha introduces the new speakers – MusicCast 20 and MusicCast 50
Both loudspeakers can be connected to a stereo pair with a corresponding second copy, and the MusicCast 50 also has stereo capacity. The smaller system MusicCast 20 offers music reproduction in a compact design and can be combined with a second copy to a full stereo set-up. MusicCast 50 comes with two low-emitter and two tweeters, making the speaker itself a stereo system. You can, however, link a second one.
The speakers allow music streaming from all common streaming services, including Tidal, Deezer, Spotify or Qobuz. The multiroom system can also distribute these sources among the various connected MusicCast components and thus bring music throughout the house. The app can be operated via the app via the smartphone or tablet.
The combination of several new MusicCast devices provides further possibilities. For example, two MusicCast 20 or MusicCast 50 can be used as surround speakers with the new AV receivers of the RX-V85 and the RX-A80 series and the new soundbars MusicCast BAR 40 and MusicCast BAR 400 in a surround setup. The surround speakers receive their signals wirelessly. This means that it is no longer necessary to lay cables through the room. The MusicCast 50 can only take care of the rear sound image of a surround setup. Via a special technology, a virtual surround is created, so that a surround experience is possible with just one wireless-connected loudspeaker.
Prices and availability
