It looks like Xiaomi has started a broad rollout of Android Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi Box media player with Android TV. The update was spotted at the beginning of May, but now arrives at many more users than at the time.

Android Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi Box

The Xiaomi Mi Box is a relatively cheap 4k set-top box with Android TV on board. In early May, several users said on Reddit that an update had been rolled out to their media player and that they now have the Android Oreo update for Android TV. It probably was the beta update at the time, as some users had indicated that they are part of that program. Now again the same update is mentioned, but by many more users.

The update is again discussed on Reddit. Users from around the world, including countries such as Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, Mexico and Portugal, have announced that they have received the update to Android Oreo for the Xiaomi Mi Box. The update weighs more than 615 MB and includes, among other things, Google Assistant and a new home screen. Meanwhile, Nvidia Shield owners are still waiting for the same update, after it was previously withdrawn by the manufacturer.
