Xbox One may receive support for Alexa and Google Assistant

If we can believe the latest rumors, the Xbox One gets support for the voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The options will then exist alongside the current personal assistant, Cortana. Cortana was developed by Microsoft.

Alexa and Assistant to Xbox One – rumor

The Xbox One from Microsoft will soon receive support for the voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. That writes at least the editors of Windows Central. The personal assistants could then be activated through skills on the platforms. At the time of writing, the Xbox only supports the voice assistant from Microsoft, namely Cortana. You can use her by connecting the infamous Kinect camera. However, Cortana is not yet that much and is not available anywhere.

By adding Alexa and Assistant it is therefore possible in the future that you can control your console, as well as other devices in the house, with your voice ( as you may already be doing with Cortana). How this works and what can and can not be done is not yet clear. Probably you do not need the Kinect camera for the use of the assistants. Meanwhile, Microsoft is working with Amazon to integrate Alexa and Cortana, so Windows 10 devices get Alexa built in.
