A new video from Digital Foundry shows PS4 games on PlayStation 5. It shows how much PS4 titles improve when you play them on PlayStation 5.
Play PS4 games on PlayStation 5
In the video of thirty minutes, several titles will pass, such as Crysis Remastered, Dark Souls 3, Days Gone (with its exclusive 60fps frame rate for PS5), Ghost of Tsushima (with its exclusive 60fps frame rate for PS5), Hitman, Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
There is still some uncertainty about the backward compatibility regarding the PlayStation 5. Although it is possible to play the majority of PS4 titles on its successor, unfortunately this does not apply to every game. It’s not the same situation as with Xbox Series X, which can basically play any game you can play on the Xbox One as well. The PlayStation 5 supports the majority of PlayStation 4 titles. 99 percent, to be precise. A list of games that will not work on the console has been released and we have copied that list below.
- Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
- Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India
- Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China
- Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia
- Star Trek Bridge Crew
- Werewolves Within
- Space Junkies
- Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma – Volume One
- TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow Complex Remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We Sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Joe’s Diner
Sony mainly leaves it to publishers and developers to build in support for PlayStation 5. That could be that you can play such a game on your PS5 at all or that an exclusive mode is connected to it, such as with Ghost of Tsushima and Days Gone.
Then the question is of course to what extent all kinds of PS4 games can be played on the new console from Sony. If we rely on the video above, we can conclude that the majority of the games are perfectly playable and in some cases are therefore better.
