Game developer Naughty Dog is working with pay channel HBO on a series about the popular video game The Last of Us. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin is leading the project, along with Naughty Dog’s own Neil Druckmann. Druckmann is a writer and executive producer.
HBO is working on The Last of Us series
In addition, the director of the studio and Sony’s own PlayStation Productions is also involved in the development. The series is about the events of the first game in the series. The older man Joel is tasked with smuggling a young girl named Ellie out of a quarantine zone. They soon run into all kinds of problems: not only do they have to compete against other people, they also compete against infected people. There may also be something being done with The Last of Us 2, but that’s not certain.
Films and series based on video games have little success. Recently we have been able to enjoy Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, but that was because the makers were given a lot of freedom. Video game stories are often not your thing, but The Last of Us is different. After all, it is the strongest point of the video game. So there will not be much to do to make the story interesting for anyone who is not gaming. Later on, HBO will release more PlayStation series.
