TCL brings Android TV 11 update: The Chinese manufacturer TCL announced this week that the Android TV televisions from 2019 and 2020 can count on Android TV 11. TCL will inform the editors of this FlatpanelsHD. The manufacturer says that not all TVs are covered, but some of them can count on the modern version of Google’s Android operating system. As it looks now, this company will be among the first batch of manufacturers to release the upgrade for its TVs. In comparison, Google’s new Chromecast is currently still running on Android TV 10.
TCL brings Android TV 11 update
While the company has now confirmed that the update is imminent for the 2019 and 2020 models, chances are we will have a long wait for it. For the time being, it does not look like the upgrade will arrive for the third quarter of 2021. It is expected that it will appear in the third quarter of this new year.
Although Google already reported last year that it is intended that Android TV devices will be equipped with the new Google interface (already present on that new Chromecast), it will not be a hard obligation for manufacturers of TVs with the operating system on board. Chances are that much of the current range – the TVs that are already in the shops – will keep the old, familiar interface.
How that exactly with TCL is currently a guess. If the company can switch quickly and release Google TV for its 2021 models, there is a chance that the 2020 televisions can also get the new interface. For more information about Android TV 11, click here.
