With the Streaming tips as FWD editors, we look at the new offerings, mainly from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney +. If services like Apple TV and Videoland also have something cool in that week, we will also report it. Many tips are based on preference, but we also pay attention to things like popularity or a particular niche. As a result, many different types of films, cartoons, series and documentaries are featured. If you have any streaming tips from the past week, please share them in the comments!
Gold Coast (Videoland)
From 1996 to 2001, SBS6 had its own answer to Good Times, Bad Times and Onderweg naar Morgen. That came in the form of Gold Coast, of which many people especially remember Michiel de Zeeuw, Winston Gerschtanowitz and Froukje de Both. Videoland puts the six seasons (925 episodes!) Of Goudkust online, so you can enjoy all that Dutch drama again.
Antebellum (Amazon Prime Video)
A fairly new movie on Amazon Prime Video, namely Antebellum. It is a 2020 American thriller directed by new directors Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz. The film is produced by Jordan Peele (known from Get Out) and this film can certainly be compared with Get Out in some areas. In this film we see how the main character (played by Janelle Monáe) lives both in modern times and in slavery. That this is quite complicated and with the necessary trauma, you can see in the special Antebellum.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 (Videoland)
June Osborne (played by Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss) has been through a lot, but now our heroine from The Handmaid’s Tale is in her fourth season. The rebel leader seeks justice, while she must do her best not to be constantly pissed off about everything that has been done to her. Another very exciting season of this already very exciting series.
Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse (Amazon Prime Video)
In Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station, Black Panther) plays a man who must experience the murder of his pregnant wife. Together with his SEAL colleague Karen and the rather edgy CIA agent Robert, he unravels a story that is much bigger than this very personal murder alone.
Headspace: Guide to Sleep (Netflix)
Headspace has not been on Netflix for very long, but now there is already a new season. First we could learn to meditate, this brand new part focuses on sleep. Getting to sleep peacefully and ending your day well, that’s where Headspace wants to help you. Now on Netflix, with a special mention to Headspace’s Evelyn Lewis Prieto.
Dolfje Werewolfje (Disney +)
Dolfje is an ordinary boy, until he turns seven years old and gradually changes to wolf. Is he a werewolf? What does that mean for his life? In this film from 2011, based on the book of the same name by children’s author Paul van Loon, you can see how Dolfje deals with his new life.
