It will be clearly shown that you have left the group and therefore it is immediately known to the entire group that you might prefer not to speak to them at all. The messaging service will soon introduce a new function especially for this group of people. You will soon be able to quietly leave a group, without anyone seeing anything.
The new feature has surfaced in a new beta version of the messaging service. Only the administrator will see who has left the group and not everyone in a group. A new pop-up will appear with the text: “Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group”. The rest of the people in the group don’t get to see it anymore. And that can be quite handy, because the messaging service wants to make group chats considerably larger. It should be possible to soon up to 512 people to add to a group. So it is not only easy for yourself to quietly retreat, the rest of the group is not continuously harassed with people who leave the group.
Release WhatsApp update still unclear
It is not yet clear when the new function for WhatsApp will appear. According to wabetainfo.com the function is not yet publicly tested.
