Nowadays it is no longer self-evident that a television is still being updated when it is four years old, but Sony shows that it is indeed possible. The Japanese manufacturer has announced that Sony releasing Android TV 9 in Latin America for televisions released in 2016 or later.
Sony releasing Android TV 9 means android TV version 9 will be rolled out for the D, E, F, and G series from 2016, provided the TV has a size of 49-inch or larger. All these models run on Android TV as a smart TV platform and are now getting a more recent version. Various top models in the F and G series were previously updated to Android TV 9.
In Latin America, Sony has already started to roll out firmware version 6.7115 and opposite FlatpanelsHD the company indicates that the update, which includes Android TV 9, will also come to Europe in the short term. The plan is to have the update available at least before the end of the year. Android TV 9 does not offer very big improvements. Google has improved the software’s performance, fixed bugs and bundled the Video, Album and Music apps into the Media Player app.
