Sony presents Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III

The Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III’s triple-lens camera features Sony’s Alpha AF technology. Both models have both Continuous AF for all lenses and Real-time Eye AF. The Xperia 5 III is also equipped with object tracking technology.

Object tracking on the Xperia 1 III has been upgraded with Real-time Tracking, allowing you to capture moving objects in focus. To this end, artificial intelligence and a 3D iToF sensor are used to measure the distance. Furthermore, the Xperia 1 III has a ZEISS lens, which features ZEISS T * Coating. This limits reflections.

The Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III have a variable telephoto lens, which is combined with a Dual PD sensor that can reach a focal length of up to 105 mm. In addition, there are focal lengths of 16, 24 and 70 mm.

And as with the previous models, including the Xperia 1 II, the devices have the Photography Pro application, which gives you access to a camera interface that will not be foreign to users of Sony cameras. The app provides access to manual controls to set ISO, shutter speed, output to RAW and more.

Furthermore, the devices have the Imaging Edge for Mobile and Cinematography Pro apps. You use the first app to connect an Alpha camera from the company, while the second app is for video recording (in 21: 9, 4K, HDR, with 24/25/30/60 fps).

The Xperia 1 III has a 6.5-inch OLED screen, with an aspect ratio of 21: 9, maximum resolution of 4K (with support for HDR) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Xperia 5 III has a 6.1 ″ OLED display, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, aspect ratio of 21: 9 and support for HDR. In addition, there is support for Dolby Atmos and there are stereo speakers on the devices.

There is also a headphone connection and you can adjust the sound to your own hearing via the audio equalizer. Just like on other Sony products, you also get access to 360 Reality Audio, an audio codec with which audio can digitally provide a kind of surround effect. You do need a suitable music streaming service, such as Tidal or Amazon Prime Music, and suitable headphones for this. When you purchase the Sony Xperia 1 III or Xperia 5 III, you also receive a three-month subscription to Tidal Hi-Fi.

Under the hood of both devices is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and a 4,500 mAh battery. If the battery needs a boost, it can be recharged to fifty percent in thirty minutes with the included charger XZQ-UC1. In addition, with Xperia Adaptive Charging, the battery life can be extended to three years in both models (instead of two years in previous models). The Xperia 1 III also has wireless charging.

Both devices come with Android 11 on-board. Finally, there is support for 5g. Prices will be announced later.

And the Xperia 10 III
