Cross-platform play is becoming more and more common, but Sony remains very much behind on the rest. Rocket League and Fortnite are two titles where cross-platform play is possible, but Sony does not block that.

Eurogamer asked Shawn Layden, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, at the Gamelab Conference in Spain, how it is now and why Sony apparently does not seem to listen. Sony is definitely listening, but it is a bit more complex than just applying it to one game, Layden explained in a short statement.

He also gave hope, because he said that Sony is looking at the possibilities of cross-platform play possible. He is certain that Sony will come up with a solution that will be understood and accepted by the community.

“We’re hearing it. We’re looking at a lot of the possibilities. You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get a solution that will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business. “

This is the first official statement from Sony that paints a somewhat different picture. Nothing is certain yet, but it could be that sooner or later Sony will be tacking.
