Sony already has two Ultra HD Blu-ray players in the range with the UBP-X800 and UBP-X700, but today a new model is being introduced again. The Japanese manufacturer, Sony introduces UBP-X500, a Sony cheaper player.
Sony UBP-X500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player
The Sony UBP-X500 is looking at the specifications a simple UHD Blu-ray player. The compact model can play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, including support for HDR10 and Dolby Atmos. In addition, the player can play DVDs, Blu-ray discs and CDs without problems. Other media can be played via the USB port, including high-resolution audio and video.
And then we actually had the most important thing, because the player does not support Dolby Vision and does not have access to it. WiFi. There is an ethernet port, but access to apps like Netflix and YouTube is not spoken, so we assume that they are not there. In terms of video connections you have to do it with one HDMI output.
Sony puts the UBP-X500 for 200 euros on the market, but for now we see no reason to go for this model. For less than a decade more you have the UBP-X700 including support for Dolby Vision, two HDMI ports and WiFi. It seems to us the most obvious choice if you are in the market for a Sony player.
