What is Sonos TruePlay?
Sonos TruePlay is a technology that uses the microphone in your smartphone or tablet to tune speakers in every room. By playing a certain sound file in each room, and then analyzing it on the basis of your smartphone or tablet, Sonos knows to what extent sound is being played correctly. The app can then transmit the correct signals to your speaker and it can adjust itself correctly for the room in which the device is located.

How does it work?
Sonos TruePlay works with the Sonos Play: 1, Play: 3 and Play: 5. The necessary software only works on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Thus, Android devices are not supported for this function. If you have the right devices and open the Sonos app, the process is very simple.
First, open the Sonos app and navigate to Settings> Room Settings. You then choose the room in which the speaker you want to adjust is located and you make sure that you are also in that room with your smartphone or tablet. Then tap “TruePlay Tuning” and let the speaker do its work. It will now play a sound and your smartphone or tablet will register it.
