It was already known thanks to numerous rumors, but today Sonos has officially presented its latest soundbar. The Sonos Ray is a compact, standalone soundbar with a price tag of 299 euros.
The Sonos Ray is the latest addition to the American company’s range of speakers. And also the company’s third soundbar. After the high end Sonos Arc and the middle class Sonos Beam it’s now time for the entry-level model: the Sonos Ray. This soundbar raises the bar for home entertainment with new acoustic innovations that deliver balanced sound, crystal-clear dialogue and robust bass.
Despite its compact size, the Ray should offer a room-filling sound, thanks in part to specially designed waveguides that project the sound from wall to wall and the processor that positions elements in the room. A new bass reflex system must produce deep and low tones. Speech amplification should provide even greater clarity, while Night Sound reduces the intensity of loud sound effects so that you do not disturb anyone in the house. Of course, the audio reproduction can be further tuned to the environment through TruePlay. It is also interesting that with two Sonos One speakers you can wirelessly add surround to the Ray.
The soundbar can be operated via the Sonos app, and from there you also get access to all popular streaming services and Sonos Radio. In addition, it is possible to operate the Ray with the remote control of your television and you can stream wirelessly via AirPlay 2. The Sonos Ray can be placed on a piece of furniture or cabinet and must fit under/in front of almost any television. The soundbar is mainly intended for people who are looking for simplicity, versatility and quality at an accessible price, allowing you to take a first step towards a home cinema installation or to expand it to other rooms in the house.
The Sonos Ray will be available in the Europe from June 7, 2022 for 299 euros.
