Frequently used slogans from Sonos are “Fill Your Home with Music” and “All the music on Earth, in every room, wirelessly”. It is clear that the American manufacturer positions itself in the house. After all, you can find Sonos speakers for every room in the house and even place them in the garden.
However, this strategy may soon be expanded with a focus on the road and outside. That is at least if we can believe the words of Nick Millington, chief officer of the Sonos product team. He indicates that the transition from the house to ‘everywhere’ is one of the most important topics that are currently being discussed within the company. The house is not the only place where music is enjoyed. According to Millington, Sonos will have products in the assortment that fit in with the outdoor scenarios in a while.
What exactly can be expected remains as yet guessing. Sonos can focus on a wireless speaker with battery, but who knows we can see the company back with audio systems for cars or headphones. However, the company currently pays all its products to a reliable standard; WiFi. This also makes the system what it is. How the next generation of products, which therefore have to work outdoors, deals with this is another important question.
