Makes your kitchen smarter: The British company Smarter wants to release some products that can make your kitchen a lot smarter, without making major investments. There are a total of three products, which can also be linked to Apple’s HomeKit for iOS devices.
Smarter makes your kitchen smarter
At the CES fair in Las Vegas, the British start-up Smarter showed three new products that should make a ‘dumb’ kitchen ‘smarter’. Previously, this company was already responsible for a smart teapot and a connected coffee maker, but now it presents a special mat, camera and a kind of listening hockey puck. The mat is linked to your WiFi network and can determine exactly what is on it via the app. After that, the Smarter Mat can calculate when you need to do your shopping for this specific product.
Then we have the special camera. You place this in the fridge (just like the built-in camera of the Samsung fridge ). Unfortunately, it does not give you access to a live feed, but when you open the door, the camera takes a picture of the content. If you are in the supermarket and you no longer know what’s on it, you can view the photo and continue shopping. The hockey puck, or Smarter Detect, can hear when the food is ready – if the food in the pan, oven or microwave is ready, you will receive a notification on your smartphone.
The prices for the Smarter Mat are between eighty and one hundred dollars – that depends on the size of the mat. Both the Fridge Cam and the Detect are going away for a hundred dollars. In addition, these gadgets can be connected to Apple’s HomeKit. These products are expected to be released in August.
