Shelly Motion Launched – A low-energy Wi-Fi motion sensor

the energy consumption is very high in motion sensors but Shelly Motion Launched to resolve this issue with the help of Silicon Labs Wi-Fi technology

We all know the motion sensors from retail chains such as Action. Initially it works fine when connected to a smart bulb, but the energy consumption is very high. As a result, you often have to replace batteries in these motion sensors. The manufacturer tries to limit energy consumption by applying a so-called time-out, but this means that you are more often in the dark than you would like.

The new Shelly Motion has found a solution for that. It uses Silicon Labs Wi-Fi technology, which ensures very low energy consumption in combination with a fast response time.

The Shelly Motion also has the benefits of Wi-Fi products. You don’t need an external hub, but you can connect it directly to your WiFi network. This motion sensor supports Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant, SmartThings and various other platforms for wide integration. The motion sensor has a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 6,500 mAh. According to the manufacturer, you only have to charge this model once a year, in combination with the Wi-Fi technology from Silicon Labs. No further timeouts have been added. The sensor is ready 24/7 and must respond within 200 ms. The Shelly Motion is easy to link to other smart products and can therefore quickly switch on a smart lamp in a specific room.

You can set the sensitivity of the Shelly Motion in 256 different levels and there is also ‘tamper detection’. You will immediately receive a notification if someone is messing with this motion sensor.

Price and availability of Shelly Motion

The Shelly Motion is available immediately on the website of Shelly. The suggested retail price is 33.25 euros.
