The traditional manufacturer Sennheiser has announced the IE 900, a new reference class of in-ear headphones. It was developed in Germany and is manufactured at the Sennheiser headquarters in Wedemark near Hanover.
Sennheiser IE 900: technology & equipment
The classic, wired earphones are equipped with the dynamic X3R sound transducer, which is based on a 7 mm broadband transducer developed in-house, but is manufactured with even tighter manufacturing tolerances. The newly developed membrane film is intended to significantly reduce natural resonances and distortions. For example, Sennheiser gives one THD of 0.05% at 94 dB and 1 kHz and a frequency response of 5 Hz – 48 kHz.
The housings have three absorber chambers and are milled from an aluminum block; an additional acoustic vortex milled into the audio output Counter masking effectsthat impair the perception of high altitude due to loud, low-frequency sounds.
The built-in MMCX connector gives music lovers a free choice when it comes to cables. Supplied with a unbalanced cable with 3.5mm plug as well two balanced cables with 2.5 mm and 4.4 mm plugs. Due to their para-aramid reinforcement, the cables are said to withstand thousands of bending cycles. The scope of delivery also includes silicone and memory foam ear tips in three different sizes.
