We expect an official announcement of new iPad models in the coming months, but this may be delayed. Nikkei Asia reports that the production of new iPads (and Macbook Pros) is being delayed due to a shortage of certain parts.
According to the report, the ‘tablet from Apple’ is mainly due to a shortage of parts for the display and displays themselves. This means that production has to be postponed. In response to the shortage, Apple has postponed production to the second half of 2021. Although Apple appears to be in trouble regarding the Macbook Pro and the iPad, there does not appear to be a problem with the production of iPhones. Sources do inform Nikkei Asia that parts for iPhones are very limited and that this may cause problems in the near future.
Postponed new iPad models?
It came in early March rumor announced that Apple would present a new iPad Pro by the end of the month of March. As it turned out, the new model was not announced. The shortage of parts may be the cause of the delay. This could mean that we cannot expect a new model until the second half of 2021. However, the report does not show exactly for which models the scarcity applies. So for the time being it will remain a matter of speculation.
