Samsung postpones launch of smaller microLED televisions again : Last January, Samsung announced microled televisions in 89-inch and 101-inch sizes. Samsung previously unveiled a 146-inch model. The smaller models would be produced from May this year, but that now seems to have been postponed again. According to sources from the South Korean The Elec production of the 89-inch model has been postponed to the third quarter of this year. Production of the 101-inch variant has been postponed without fixing a new date.
The reason behind Samsung postpones launch of smaller microLED decision is that it is still very difficult to produce a microLED television. The new models use even smaller LED chips and an LTPS (low-temperature polycrystalline silicon) panel, while the first model used printed PCBs. Based on this technology, Samsung would like to bring a 99-inch variant on the market this year.
MicroLED technology is far from ready for the masses, both in terms of production and price. Earlier reports surfaced that the 89-inch model would cost about $ 80,000.
