In March of this year Samsung presented its new QLED TV series in New York, including a Q8 series top model with full array backlight. Unfortunately, this TV was not released in Europe but that is now changing.
Samsung Q8 series with FALD to Europe
In the form of the Q8DN comes the variant of the Q8 series with full array backlight (FALD) nevertheless to Europe, so sources to know FlatpanelsHD to report. The Q8 models already in the Dutch and Belgian stores have edge lit LED backlighting, which means that the LEDs are on the sides of the panel. In full array LED backlight the LEDs are located directly behind the screen. The big advantage of this is that even more specific LEDs can be switched off and therefore dark parts of the screen are really black.
In Europe only the Q9 series currently has full array backlighting, but there is also a price tag to. Samsung now wants to introduce this better technique in the cheaper Q8 series. These Q8 models have to do compared to the Q9 series without the external One Connect Box and have fewer dimming zones than the Q9 series. Furthermore, the Q8DN models come with the One Remote remote control, a silver-colored design, the Tizen smart TV platform and four HDMI ports.
Samsung launches the Q8DN in a 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch inch variant. According to the sources of FlatpanelsHD, the series is in any case released in the UK, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Germany. Whether we can expect these models in the Netherlands or Belgium is not yet clear.
