About two weeks ago  S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 announced by GSC Game World finally approaching. That is, of course, something, but the game is still waiting for a while; for now the release is scheduled for 2021. At the announcement the developer had nothing to show, so why announce the game so early?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 announced

Sergey Galyonkin, director of publishing at Epic Games, seems the answer to this to have us. Sergey does not cooperate with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, but GSC has taken the engine of Epic, the Unreal Engine, into use at S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. So it is not surprising that Sergey knows something about it. During a Russian podcast he was able to tell that this announcement took place in the hope that they (the developer) could find a publisher for the game on the E3.

GSC has had a somewhat difficult history, so it seems to us not crazy that they need a lender. The foregoing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles were often published by themselves or together with partners, but since this developer has had to put the work down for quite a while, money will have to come from somewhere. At present, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in the so-called ‘design document stage’, which means that there is unfortunately still nothing to show.
