Ring has presented the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. This is a compact doorbell that nevertheless offers a large number of functions. For example, 1080p video with night vision and two-way speech with noise cancellation are available. You connect the smart video doorbell directly to the power, at the location of your old doorbell. So you don’t need a battery and don’t have to charge anything.
The bell offers a wide field of view and lets you communicate with everyone at the door. Customizable motion detection allows you to create specific zones to trigger notifications and privacy zones can also be set to free up areas you don’t want to monitor. After all zones are set, the motion detection sends a notification to the Ring app if it detects motion within a specified distance from the doorbell.
If you have a subscription to the Ring Protect Plan (which costs at least 3 euros per month, per device), you get access to more options. This provides a six second video preview after motion detection at the front door, so you can see what triggered the alert. Other capabilities include People Detection, which sends a notification only when a person is detected, and Image Notifications, which provide a quick real-time preview of what’s happening before you open the Ring app.
The Ring Video Doorbell Wired works with select Alexa devices. Activate the Ring Skill in the Alexa app and say “Alexa, show me the front door” to see live image on your Alexa device, or say “Alexa, talk to front door” to talk to the person in front of the door.
