The Teufel Boomster XL is a gigantic Bluetooth speaker with a power of eighty watts and great sound quality. And fortunately, the connection has also happened that way. This looks like the Bluetooth speaker of the Bluetooth speakers.
Teufel Boomster XL – design and installation
If you are already familiar with the design of the first Teufel Boomster, the Teufel Boomster XL will not surprise you. He lends a lot of elements from his predecessor, and that is by no means a bad thing. The design is sleek and sturdy and radiates a robust image. The screws on both sides also give it a typical industrial design and it mainly reminds us of the material that bands and DJs use live on stage. The Teufel Boomster XL is also very heavy, so it always stays in place.
The material of the housing is a combination of aluminum and ABS plastic. At the top are some buttons with which you can adjust the bass and the treble, adjust the volume and with which you can activate the Bluetooth connection. You will also find the buttons here to turn the speaker on and off and activate the radio, including some buttons with presets. In addition to listening to radio and streaming music via Bluetooth, it is also possible to connect an external music player via an audio cable.
This way, you can also connect your laptop without a Bluetooth connection to the Boomster XL or boost your television sound, which was not possible before. The speaker comes with an audio cable and radio antenna, so you can immediately use all options. Of course, the Bluetooth speaker is also supplied with a plug, although you can also use the device without a plug. Within three hours the battery is charged and after that the Boomster XL can go a complete party (and possibly even an after party).
Just like with all other Bluetooth speakers, the installation is done like this. If you want to use the Bluetooth connection, you can activate nfc and let the linking process go very fast or you simply search for the speaker and link it via the old-fashioned way – just what your Bluetooth device can do. The Boomster XL is also able to charge your smartphone, since there is also a USB port in the back. Then the battery will last a bit less, so do not forget to take the plug for the speaker.
Teufel Boomster XL – use
Taking the Teufel Boomster XL into use requires no effort. Once the speaker is on, you can effortlessly play your music with it. You activate the Bluetooth connection on your smartphone or tablet and play the music you want to hear in no time. This can be done via any music streaming service and even stored music offline. You can of course also call or send the sound of videos, since the Boomster XL takes all the sound of the paired device. It all works very simple.
If you still want to switch to the device that you have connected to the aux socket, then press the appropriate button (second from the left, as you can see on the picture above). From that point on, the Teufel Boomster XL works just like you would expect from a Bluetooth speaker. You can adjust the volume on the speaker itself, but you can also do this from the device. Of course (or probably) the connected device has less power than the Boomster XL, so we recommend setting the volume of that device high.
This way you can further adjust the sound on the speaker. In addition to controlling the volume, you are also able to adjust the bass and the treble. That is also very easy. You press the respective button once and then use the plus and minus buttons to indicate how high or low the tones should be. You can listen to that, but you can also be guided by the visual feedback behind the speaker’s lattice. Normally, these red lights show how high the volume is set on the speaker, which is also handy.
Because the speaker is so big, you have to find a spot in the house or at a party, where you can put it all the time. It is also not that you drag him everywhere with you, because the speaker weighs quite a bit. Fortunately, he does not feel like logging during the wear, because of the handles on the side. That is a plus. However, if you want to use it as an audio system substitute, then you might be looking for a suitable spot. Place it as centrally as possible, because the sound that comes out is powerful.
Teufel Boomster XL – audio quality
Powerful enough to fill a room of nearly thirty square meters with a sound that your ears will continue to enjoy for a long time. And when you set the speaker and the music source correctly, a powerful sound comes out of that device. That’s no different with two tweeters, two midrange drivers for a clear hi-fi sound and a downfire subwoofer for a particularly powerful bass reproduction on board. We’ve never heard live recordings and concert recordings coming out of a Bluetooth speaker – like you’re there.
The ground around the speaker vibrates from the bass (of course there is also just how hard you set it). Unfortunately, there is also a disadvantage to all that power: if you do not set the speaker properly or let the sound out loud (something you probably plan with these speakers for parties), the sound can fill the room rather chaotically. So there is clearly a limit. But then we have to tell you that it takes a while before you reach that limit. Until then, the sound will be crystal clear and unrivaled.
Teufel Boomster XL – conclusion
Furthermore, we actually have no disadvantage to the Teufel Boomster XL. It meets all the requirements of a Bluetooth speaker that is meant for parties that last longer: it fills a large room with a fantastic, almost overwhelmed, but especially crystal clear sound, has a rechargeable battery on board, so you can continue without available socket, and has been given a very tough and industrial design, so that the Bluetooth speaker will not be out of place at the parties you give.
Okay, it’s pretty pricey: with a suggested retail price of 599 euros you have to hit the pouch. And as a home cinema lover you probably already have an audio system of at least three times the value of a Teufel Boomster XL where you can also provide many a party with beautiful music. This speaker is more intended for people who often give parties and have no money for an audio system of one or two thousand euros or are looking for the best portable / Bluetooth speaker of the moment.
