With the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 Earbuds, the third version of the popular in-ear series is now commercially available. We took a closer look at the small in-ears.
An overview
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 has Adaptive Noise Cancellation and comes with a transparency mode. In addition, the little companions convince with long battery life and good wearing comfort. The closed music suppliers have dynamic 7 mm “TrueResponse” drivers ranging from 5 Hz to 21 kHz.
Areas of application for the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3:
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 is suitable for travel and sporting activities and can also be used for phone calls at work.

First Impression and Scope of Delivery
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 has a compact, lightweight storage/charging case. They are available in grey, black, and white. The plastic casing ensures a chic look, and the in-ear magnetic cut-out and the front’s USB-C connection are excellently integrated.
Nothing is wrong with the case’s processing quality and the earbuds. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 makes a strong impression and should easily survive a fall from the desk. At 250 euros, the small sound suppliers are definitely among the more expensive representatives of their genre.
The scope of delivery includes – excluding the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 and the charging case:
- 4 pairs of silicone ear adapter sets (XS, S, M, L)
- 4 pairs of ear fin sets (XS, S, M, L)
- USB-C to USB-A cable for charging
- Quick start guide and safety instructions

Bluetooth, battery, and functionality of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 has Bluetooth 5.2 and the codecs SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX adaptive. I had no range problems during the test. Regardless of whether I was vacuuming several rooms in my apartment or in the open field – the in-ears also worked more than ten meters away from my smartphone without any dropouts.
During the test, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 was also connected very quickly to playback devices such as a laptop or smartphone. The in-ears have touch controls. For example, to activate the pairing mode, you only have to touch both outsides for a few seconds with one finger each.
Thanks to an update from Sennheiser, multipoint is also available and works perfectly. For example, you can listen to music on the computer and still answer calls on your smartphone. I think it’s great when manufacturers provide their products with additional functions via simple software updates.
The battery life of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 is around 7 hours. The charging case enables additional full charges so that users have a battery life of around 28 hours – which should be more than enough for most users.
A little less battery life is available with ANC switched on. A full charge takes around 1.5 hours, and thanks to the quick charge function, after 10 minutes, nothing is standing in the way of another hour of music playback. The charging case can also be charged wirelessly.
Thanks to the built-in wearer detection, the music can be paused as soon as one or both in-ears are removed from the ear. I’m a big fan of the one-ear mode for both earbuds. I often only have one in-ear in my ear on the way to work – despite the transparency mode – I know, pretty old school.

Smart Control App
I think it’s great when in-ear systems come with an app for more in-depth settings. The so-called “Smart Control” app from Sennheiser provides some great features. Since the last update, for example, you can use the Connection Management tab to manage your multipoint devices.
A 3-band equalizer is also available for personalized sound adjustment. The battery status of the case and the handset can also be checked quickly in the app. With the sound check function, individually suitable EQ presets can be created. For this, you need a free Sennheiser account.
Users can also choose between transparency (with music, hold music) and ANC (anti-wind, on) modes. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 can be easily operated using touch sensors outside the housing without an app. You can adjust the operation via the app and thus create your control profile.
Location-specific sound settings can be made via the “Sound zones” tab. For example, you can ensure that Adaptive Noise Cancellation is automatically deactivated when you get home.

Phone calls and ANC
I particularly liked the ANC mode of the small sound suppliers. This works particularly well in the low-frequency range, so it ensures, for example, that disturbing rail noises are suppressed on train journeys.
At higher frequencies, the ANC does not intervene too much. This means that users are not completely isolated from the outside world, which I find natural and pleasant. Even without music playing, you can immerse yourself in your world and read a book or work on your laptop while on the go.
Incidentally, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 work with adaptive noise cancellation. This means that it intelligently and situationally adapts to acoustic conditions.
The transparency mode also works great, especially when listening to music. So you can easily hear announcements at a normal volume level and catch your plane despite enjoying the music. The phone calls I made were convincing due to the great voice quality.

The wearing comfort
Without good wearing comfort, even the best-sounding in-ear system is a case for the bin. Suitable ear molds are an important factor for the perfect functioning of noise cancellation and good sound quality. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 comes with four silicone ear adapters and four ear fin sets.
Especially for sports applications, the latter is a real blessing. Take your time and try different combinations. I found the in-ear wearing comfort pleasant even after listening to them for a long time. The small companions are hardly significant, weighing just 5.8 g per earphone. Thanks to the IPX4 certification, the in-ears are also splash-proof.

Sound
First, the sound of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 is really fun. I particularly liked the reproduction of the important frequency ranges for speech.
In this way, voices are reproduced perceptibly without drawing the focus completely on themselves. Post Malone’s “Go Flex” featured a punchy and precise bass range that left the adjacent frequency ranges alone.
I found the sound of the small sound suppliers to be balanced. The higher frequency ranges are present and, at the same time, discreet. My favorite song, “How To Disappear Completely” by Radiohead, showed great depth and very good spatiality and was played back with good resolution.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 – The Conclusion
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 impresses with great workmanship, a simple operating concept, many functions, and a balanced sound that can easily adapt to your needs.
The available app, with great features for adjusting the sound, controls, and more, is easy to use and quite crash-proof. The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 is an in-ear system that meets the zeitgeist and has everything to convince in this price range.

- Balanced sound
