Sony has announced that PlayStation Network users will finally be able to change their profile name from next year. First it is the turn of the members of the PlayStation Preview Program. If you want to do this later, it will cost you money.
Profile name on PSN next year
It took a while, but from next year it is finally possible: then members of the PlayStation Network (PSN) finally change their profile name. The testers within the PlayStation Preview Program will soon be able to try out the new function first, but a broad roll-out for 2019 is planned. The function is very simple: if you want to change your name on PSN, because the current one no longer fits you or you do not completely describe it, you can simply adapt it to something else.
You can even determine whether you want to old nickname still shows next to your new profile name – if you do that, you can not turn it off. The first time you change your name, it costs you nothing. But then you have to pay $9.99 (and probably also euro) for the change, unless you are a PlayStation Plus member. Then you pay half. In addition, Sony has announced that all PS4 games can deal with the changes from 1 April 2018; for all other games unfortunately problems can occur.
