PlayStation 5 will launch its own virtual reality headset, Sony announces

Sony has announced that it is going to introduce its own virtual reality headset but it is not going to release this year though.

Sony is currently working on the next-generation virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5, the company announced on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5 will not be released this year and it is still unclear when this will happen. The new headset from Sony includes an improved field of view, higher resolution and a single cable for easier use.

Virtual reality headset for PlayStation 5

Sony announces the plans for the new VR headset via his own blog. Of course, the headset must improve on a technical level, so that you as a player can enjoy a beautiful, digital world – just like on the PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR. But it’s also important that convenience improves significantly, writes Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President, Platform Planning & Management at Sony.

In addition, Sony is working on a new controller for the PlayStation 5 headset. The new controller will have some of the features that we already encounter on the new DualSense controller (which really make the system one next-gen feeling gives). In addition, the controller must also be improved in terms of ergonomics.

There is still a lot of work to be done and at the moment we can do nothing more than wait until Sony comes with more information. It is not known when the new headset will appear, but we do not have to wait for it this year.
