Now that Oppo has indicated to stop making Ultra HD Blu-ray players, a spot has become available for a competitor. And it seems that Pioneer is the competitor who sees opportunities in the market.

Pioneer may show first Ultra HD Blu-ray players

On the Japanese website of Pioneer a picture has surfaced in which two devices (as it seems ) can be displayed under a cloth. Since the url of the image contains the BDLX abbreviation, we dare to dedicate our money to Blu-ray players. Earlier (in 2014) Pioneer released the BDP-LX58 and BDP-LX88 Blu-ray players already.

But, chances are that it’s now about models with support for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. From the text on the images we can freely read that it is a new chapter, something we have had to wait for a long time. There are still a lot of details missing, including the support for HDR10 or Dolby Vision, but it seems that Pioneer wants to take the place of Oppo. Pioneer also focused on the premium (and more expensive) segment.

As soon as Pioneer announces more details, we will let you know immediately.
