Philips OLED807 with OLED.EX screen

The OLED807 is the latest OLED television from Philips, equipped with the latest OLED panel from LG Display. This panel goes by the name OLED.EX. The OLED.EX screen replaces hydrogen-based compounds in its construction with more efficient and stable deuterium, resulting in a 30% increase in light output over a standard OLED screen, according to the manufacturer. The lifespan should also be extended with this.

The enhanced version of the P5 processor’s Ambient Intelligence monitors the current ambient light in the room and can now continuously adjust brightness, gamma and colors in real time. For example, the contrast for both SDR and HDR content always fully optimized. With the 6th generation P5 AI you can also indicate your preference by selecting the options Eye Care, Dark Detail Optimization or Color Temperature Optimization.

The OLED807 incorporates a new version of AI Auto Film Mode and expands the number of alternative smart pictures modes from the original two to seven when a movie is detected – including Filmmaker Mode. If the Philips OLED807 is already in Filmmaker Mode, the set will automatically switch to Dolby Vision Dark settings when detecting Dolby Vision content. Smart picture modes now include the new Crystal Clear mode. This mode replaces the previous Vivid mode, but now comes with a better, more natural balance between sharpness, color and contrast.

The OLED807 offers support for all HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+. New in 2022 is the addition of IMAX Enhanced. Of course also HDMI 2.1 includes eArc, VRR support for 4K from 40Hz to 120Hz with full 48Gbps bandwidth, FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC compatibility, plus Auto Game and Auto Low Latency Modes. A new on-screen game bar provides quick access to picture and sound settings via a simplified menu that allows quick control or adjustment of game settings while gaming. The smart TV platform is Android TV, including support for the Google Assistant.

The Philips OLED807 has a thin bezel-less design and a metal outer frame. The four-sided Ambilight system is placed around the housing. Most versions of the Philips OLED807 feature a narrow metal T-bar swivel stand with silver chrome bow, with the sole exception of the 77-inch model which uses metal dark chrome round ‘sticks’ as stand.

In addition, the TV features a 70W 2.1 sound system with a dedicated triple ring, rear-firing bass driver with four passive radiators. DTS Play-Fi support is present, so that the TV can be part of a multi-room system. The TV can therefore also be used as a center speaker in a surround system.

Price and availability

The Philips OLED807 will be available from June in 48, 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes. Prices will be announced later.
