TP Vision, the company behind the Philips televisions, has announced that the Android Oreo update will be rolled out from November. The update for the Android TV operating system comes to the televisions released in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The Philips TVs with Android TV released in 2016, 2017 or 2018 can count on November from a brand new update, the update to Android Oreo. This update for the television operating system is the largest since the launch of the platform and has put content in the picture. The software update was launched in the fall last year by Google and only now it arrives on Philips TVs. It has therefore taken almost a year before the update is rolled out, mainly to get the software stable.
Philips states in a reaction that previous software updates could still be problematic, but it is now hoped that everything in one time goes well. First the update is rolled out to a small group of people (thousand to two thousand men) in a small number of countries, to check if everything is going well. After that, the rest is only the turn. That’s why you may not receive the update until the end of the year – but if it’s ok, you’ll see that the Android Oreo update works right away.
