Philips 2021 LCD TV line-up with Mini-LED
One of the most important innovations in the Philips LCD TV line-up for 2021 is the arrival of Mini-LED, which can be found in the new 9636 series and 9506 series. The Mini-LED technology is simply an improved version of the LCD LED technology that we have seen in recent years. The LCD screen is as it remains, but the background lighting with this technology consists of thousands of small LEDs (Mini-LED) that can be controlled in very small groups. Philips 2021 LCD TV line-up : Philips 9636 Mini-LED TV
The new 9636 series features locally dimmable backlight with 1024 zones and combines it with the Philips Micro Dimming Premium system. This should result in a peak light output of 2000 nits. The models come with a VA panel with a wide viewing angle and an expanded color gamut of 95% DCI-P3.
The Philips 9636 series uses the new 5th generation AI-P5. This adds a new movie detection mode to the five existing AI categories. P5 also integrates the light sensor to ensure that the contrast for SD or HDR content is always optimized for the amount of light in the environment.
The TVs contain all the features of HDMI 2.1 – with e-Arc, VRR (up to 120Hz), Freesync Premium Pro and Auto Game mode. Support for Dolby Atmos is available, as is wide HDR support (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and HDR10 +). The TVs also feature DTS Play-Fi compatibility for high-res multi-room audio. The smart TV package will also be delivered by Google this year, in the form of Android TV 10. Google TV is not yet being used by Philips.
The 3.1.2-channel audio system from Bowers & Wilkins provides the audio reproduction. The setup combines Dolby Atmos Elevation speakers with Bowers & Wilkins’ Tweeter-on-Top technology. The soundbar doubles as a table stand with a single connecting bar on the 65-inch version and two connecting bars on the 75-inch model. The unit can also be mounted on the wall.
The design features a thin, brushed metal bottom bezel with minimalist metal top and sides. On the back we see four-sided Ambilight.
