Earlier this month it was already known that Onkyo and Pioneer are two of the first manufacturers to get started with the Works with Sonos program. Support for this is added through a free firmware update.
Works with Sonos
Sonos announced the Works with Sonos label last week. This allows other manufacturers to have their products communicate with Sonos products to make them part of the multiroom network. Onkyo and Pioneer are also going to work on this, but unfortunately, in the field of receivers, there is always a need for a Sonos Connect accessory for the systems to work together.
When the Sonos Connect is connected, the Pioneer in question can and Onkyo receivers are integrated into a Sonos multiroom system. Moreover, they can be operated via the Sonos app. Users can play music via the Sonos app, choose different music services, have the receiver automatically come out of standby, adjust the volume and select the correct input.
The new firmware is available in the short term for the following AV receivers of both
