Launched: OnePlus Watch, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro presented

OnePlus launched its new range with the name of OnePlus 9 series which include models of OnePlus Watch, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones.

OnePlus has entered into a partnership with photo camera manufacturer Hasselblad for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. Among other things, this has resulted in a new standard for color calibration. As a result, colors must be captured more accurately and naturally. The camera is in any case the most important part for this generation of OnePlus smartphones. Also, OnePlus Watch launched too.

The OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 Pro has a custom Sony IMX789 sensor, of 48 megapixels. It has a large 1 / 1.4 inch sensor. The sensor offers faster focus, four times more color information, cleaner shots (both in the evening and during the day) and less motion blur in videos.

The second camera sensor is a 50 megapixel wide-angle variant. It has a Sony IMX 766 sensor (1 / 1.56 inch), which should guarantee better image quality and less noise. It is also true that this lens shows less distortion at the edges, due to the way in which incoming light is handled. With this lens you are also able to take macro photos, from a distance of four centimeters.

The eight megapixel telephoto lens offers 3.3x zoom with optical image stabilization and a maximum digital zoom of 30x. In addition, a monochrome lens works in tandem with the main camera for detail and depth on black and white photos. The main camera has sixteen times more pixels than a standard 1080p camera for high quality videos. The camera shoots videos in 4k at 120 fps and has support for dol-hdr.

It is also possible to adjust the photos yourself afterwards, by changing things like ISO, focus, exposure, white balance and more. In addition, you can shoot photos in 12-bit raw, a file format that presents 64 times more color than smartphones with support for 10-bit.

The 6.7-inch OLED screen has so-called lpto technology on board. This abbreviation stands for Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide and offers a number of advantages. For example, the reaction speed must increase and a refresh rate of 120 Hertz can be offered, without this being too heavy for the battery. For games, a maximum sampling of 360 Hz can be displayed.

Furthermore, the screen has a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits, 10-bit inspection depth and support for HDR10 + and MEMC.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, as well as 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 128 to 256 GB of internal storage. There is no micro SD card slot. There is support for 4g and 5g.

With Warp Charge, the OnePlus 9 Pro can be charged very quickly. Within fifteen minutes you should have enough energy for a complete day. But you can charge the system from one to one hundred percent within 29 minutes. The battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh and consists of two cells of 2,250 mAh.

In addition, there is wireless charging. This time with a power of 50 watts. This allows you to charge the device from one to one hundred percent within 43 minutes. The new wireless charger is also equipped with two coils, so you can also charge the smartphone horizontally.

The OnePlus 9 Pro is available in the colors Morning Mist, Pine Green and Stellar Black. There is also an ip68 certificate available.

The OnePlus 9

The OnePlus 9 has many of the same features as the 9 Pro, such as a 120Hz screen, the same processor and support for 5g. There is also the same wide-angle lens. The main camera is slightly different. This is a Sony IMX689 sensor, which is 1 / 1.4 inch in size. The sensor offers support for 12-bit RAW, dual native ISO and 3-HDR, among other things. There is also a monochromesensor and the underlying system is the same as on the Pro. There is one lens less than on that smartphone.

The amoled screen on the OnePlus 9 is the same as that of the OnePlus 8T and measures 6.55 inches. There is a maximum brightness of 1,100 nits, as well as support for HDR10 +. Charging is just as fast as on the Pro via the included USB-C cable. However, wireless charging is a lot slower, namely with a power of 15 watts. The device is available in three colors namely Winter Mist, Arctic Sky and Astral Black.

OxygenOS 11

Furthermore, both devices come with OxygenOS 11. That is the most recent version of the company’s Android shell, which is based on Android 11. The software is mainly about speed improvements, so your phone does not feel slow quickly.

The OnePlus Watch

Finally, we have the OnePlus Watch. This is the company’s first smartwatch. The round design of the watch should mimic the feel of a traditional watch. The case is 46 millimeters in size and made of stainless steel. This is how the company describes the Classic Edition of the smartwatch.

A OnePlus Watch Cobalt Limited Edition is also arriving. This smart watch has materials that you usually only find on more expensive watches. For example, cobalt alloy is used, a hypoallergenic material that is twice as strong as stainless steel. The glass is made of sapphire glass and should therefore not be scratched easily.

With the OnePlus Watch you can respond to incoming notifications, take and make phone calls, play music and take photos. The device has 4 GB of internal storage (of which 2 GB is available) and can be used with most bluetooth earplugs.

When you charge the battery for five minutes, the watch could last a full day. If you charge it for twenty minutes, the device will last for a week. The battery has a capacity of 402 mAh. OnePlus claims this is enough for two weeks of use. Provided you use the available energy in a sustainable way, then.

The OnePlus Watch has a 5atm and ip68 certificate, supports 110 workouts and can automatically recognize when you have started a certain workout. You can also measure basic fitness data and there is a GPS chip, so you can record your route without your smartphone. In addition, there is a blood oxygen meter, stress meter, breath training, alerts for heart palpitations and more.
