The device genre soundbar is obviously becoming more and more popular: The Swabian manufacturer Nubert is introducing the nuBoxx AS-425 max, which is now the fourth “sound bar” for stereo and home cinema sound. As the double “x” in the name suggests, technologies and drivers from the new nuBoxx development line are used.

So far, Nubert has had three soundbars: The entry-level model nuBox AS-225, the much more voluminous nuPro AS-3500 and the top model nuPro XS-7500. The new nuBoxx AS-425 max closes the gap between the first two soundbars – also in terms of price.
It is just as flat as the “small” nuBox AS-225, but is noticeably wider. This means that it can not only offer TV sets with a screen diagonal of more than 40 inches safely, it is also better equipped on the driver side: it can be used four 118 mm woofers with polypropylene membrane as well two 25 mm silk fabric domes for the high frequency range. They are driven by four digital amplifiers with a total continuous output of 40 watts each.

A DSP allows the treble and bass to be adjusted or a loudness function to be used. The basic stereo widening, known by Nubert with a twinkle in the eye, is also back on board, while the “Voice +” function emphasizes the center channel and the frequencies relevant for the reproduction of voices. Cinema fans will be pleased that the new Nubert soundbar can decode Dolby Digital (AC3) and DTS Digital Surround.
On the connection side, the nuBoxx AS-425 max presents itself with an HDMI-eARC port, an analog high-level input (Cinch) as well as an optical and a coaxial S / PDIF input. Wireless playback is also possible, because a Bluetooth receiver (aptX HD / AAC) is also on board. A sub-out allows a subwoofer to be wired up. The soundbar is operated either via the supplied infrared remote control or using a rotary knob on the front in conjunction with multi-colored LEDs arranged around the button.
