Google is likely to release a New generation Google Google Chromecast, the company’s HDMI stick, on October 9th. This is evidenced by statements from employees of the American electronics chain Best Buy, where a buyer accidentally received the latest version.

A unsuspecting buyer of a Google Chromecast from the United States has accidentally received the unannounced new version of the HDMI stick. According to employees at Best Buy it was a mistake and the new Chromecast should actually be sold only from 9 October. The expectation is that on that day Google not only announces the new Pixel 3 smartphone but also a new version of its HDMI stick.

What we can expect from the latest generation Chromecasts is not yet clear. The buyer of the stick could not do much with it because it requires a new version of the Google Home app. This new version will probably not be rolled out until or around 9 October. In appearance, the new Chromecast is slightly thicker than its predecessor and a matte finish.

From previous rumors and reports we can conclude that the new version of Google’s HDMI stick equipped with 5GHz WiFi, better WiFi reception and full bluetooth support.
