New Chromecast with Google TV (HD) available immediately

New Chromecast with Google TV (HD) available immediately which is earlier than expected as Google itself make fun of its delay.

Google has today announced that the new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is available immediately. We also immediately spotted the new model at various (web) stores. That is earlier than expected and Google itself also makes fun of it by writing ‘so not until October 6’ in the url of the message.

Don’t expect an update of the Chromecast with Google TV from 2020. That was the 4k version and it just continues to exist. This is the HD version. The image quality is therefore less good and the processor on board is also slightly slower. Handy for a second television in the bedroom or if you don’t have a 4k television at home yet. The name of the new dongle is the same as the 4k version, except for HD in parentheses. So from now on we have the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and the Chromecast with Google TV (HD). In appearance, both dongles are almost identical.

On the new model, just like on the 4k version, you have access to a wide range of apps, including YouTube, Netflix, Disney +, Prime Video, Videoland, NPO Start, Ziggo GO, Viaplay, HBO Max and Apple TV. You can also install thousands of other apps yourself. The Google Assistant is also not missing. You can control Google’s voice assistant via the Chromecast Voice Remote.

Price and availability

The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is available immediately for 39.99 euros.
