Launched in April 2021, the original Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 and Pi5 noise canceling in-ear headphones redefined expectations in the True Wireless (TWS) category and marked the entry of the renowned British firm into the TWS market. Now the legendary Worthing brand has built on the global acceptance of its first generation of True Wireless in-ear headphones to introduce two new and improved models, the Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2. Replacing their predecessors, the two new designs reaffirm their status as the most musical True Wireless headphones within their respective categories.
Improving the absolute best
The Pi7 S2 maintains the celebrated benchmark high-resolution sound of its predecessors, while incorporating valuable improvements in connectivity, battery life and user experience and introducing three new premium finishes. Both the Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 feature improved wireless connectivity thanks to a redesigned antenna that allows the range of Bluetooth coverage to be extended up to 25m, thus ensuring an even more stable high-level listening experience.
Both new models include an increased autonomy battery for the headphones that now gives them five hours of uninterrupted listening before needing to be recharged. They also continue to feature an enhanced charging feature that gives you an extra two hours of listening from just a 15-minute charge. Of course, the charging box supplied with each model provides extra autonomy, specifically 16 hours for the Pi7 S2 and 19 hours for the Pi5 S2.
Premium design, new finishes
The Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 continue to deliver the premium design experience at the highest level expected from Bowers & Wilkins, while also introducing an extensive range of refined new finishes. The Pi7 S2 is available in three new colors: Satin Black, Canvas White and Midnight Blue. For the Pi5 S2, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced its most extensive range of earphone colors to date, being available in Cloud Gray and Storm Gray, as well as vibrant new Spring Lilac and Sage colors. Green (*available Spring 2023).
Clean user experience from the Music App
The Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 are the latest headphone models to be fully integrated into the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. Offering a pristine user experience that is complemented by comprehensive tuning, configurable noise canceling modes and the adjustment of the placement sensors, the Music App also supports the functionality of direct streaming of “Hi-Res” music from the mobile device to the user’s headphones via services such as Qobuz, TIDAL and Deezer.
Intuitive and intelligent features
The Pi7 S2 continue to offer Wireless Audio Streaming, a revolutionary functionality originally introduced in its predecessors that allows users to connect to an external audio source – such as an in-flight entertainment system – and then wirelessly stream to the headset – via smart charging box- and with exceptional quality sound from it.
The two new Bowers & Wilkins TW in-ear headphones can be controlled through a simple user interface consisting of a single button -capacitive type and located on each ear cup that allows multitasking in a simple and elegant way- in combination with support for voice assistant via Siri or Google Assistant depending on the connected device. The Bowers & Wilkins Music App also offers an extensive repertoire of user settings for those who want to precisely tailor their in-ear headphones to their preferences.
True Wireless Sound, Redefined
As the reference True Wireless headphones, the Pi7 S2 continues to offer support for Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, which enables high-resolution music streaming from streaming services and compatible devices via 24-bit/48kHz wireless transmission between each helmet. Working together, these two technologies keep the Pi7 S2 among the few True Wireless headphones truly capable of supporting Hi-Res Audio from the music source to the user’s ears.
The Pi7 S2 incorporates 9.2mm electrodynamic drivers custom built for Bowers & Wilkins to which is added a “balanced armature” (BA) type tweeter, each of the four drivers in the system being driven by its own amplifier. The Pi7 S2 also includes Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) to automatically monitor and analyze your environment in order to adapt to it and thus produce the best possible listening experience without interruptions. This ANC system is complemented by six microphones -three in each helmet- to guarantee crystal clear sound quality in phone calls.
True Wireless sound at the highest level
The new Pi5 S2 also continue to offer best-in-class performance, utilizing TWS technology for robust, high-quality hull-to-hull synchronization in combination with a unique 9.2mm electrodynamic transducer custom-built in each. The Pi5 S2 supports CD-quality audio playback by using high-quality wireless music streaming via aptX from a compatible mobile device. The Pi5 S2 also offers pristine access to user-selectable noise cancellation, as well as an ambient sound pass-through mode, while incorporating two microphones per headset to ensure quality phone calls.
The new Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 will be available at bowerswilkins.com and select retailers starting January 25, 2023.
