Netflix has released an update for its application that Netflix adds Dolby Atmos on the Apple TV 4K. This means that Netflix is ready for the release of tvOS 12, the new operating system of the Apple TV that also supports Atmos.
This Monday, Apple tvOS 12 officially releases. That means the Apple TV 4K will support the Dolby Atmos format. It was still unclear whether this would initially only apply to content in iTunes, but in the meantime Netflix has announced that it is one of the launch partners. All Dolby Atmos content on Netflix can thus be played directly in the surround format after the installation of tvOS 12. Films and series such as Bright, Lost in Space, Okay, Mudbound, Godless, Iron Fist and Dark can be played in Dolby’s audio format.
series in 4K, Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos via Netflix to view you need a more expensive subscription and a minimum bandwidth of 3Mb/s. Amazon also offers Atmos content via its own Prime Video service, but it is not yet clear when Apple TV users can play the Atmos content.
