Netatmo Smart Outdoor Cameras now compatible with HomeKit Secure Video

Netatmo Smart Outdoor Cameras now compatible with HomeKit Secure Video in the Apple Home app and store them in iCloud.

Users of the Netatmo Smart Outdoor Cameras can now watch videos in the Apple Home app and store them in iCloud. This support was previously available for the Smart Indoor Cameras of the brand. Fred Potter, founder of Netatmo says:

“Users find the protection of their home’s security images extremely important. They want their videos to remain confidential and that no one can access them. That’s why we designed cameras with local storage. Because we wanted to offer users more options, without sacrificing privacy, we decided to support Apple HomeKit Secure Video. This allows Netatmo users to securely store activities detected by the Smart Outdoor Cameras in iCloud. In addition to local storage, Netatmo users can now choose from 3 backup storage options for the cloud: Apple HomeKit Secure Video, their personal Dropbox account or their FTP server. ”

HomeKit Secure Video also brings automations with Netatmo Smart Outdoor Cameras

The update should roll out to all versions of the Smart Outdoor Camera (with or without a siren) in the coming days. Users can watch the video live via the Apple Home app, as well as ten days of recent activities. HomeKit Secure Video also brings a new feature to the Netatmo Smart Outdoor Cameras. This way you can now create automations. Does the camera spot movement? Then the garden lamps go on, for example. For HomeKit Secure Video, users need at least a 200 GB iCloud subscription. You can add one camera for free. If you have a 2 TB subscription, you can add a maximum of five cameras. The cameras do not affect the iCloud storage limit.

With Netatmo you never have to pay for a subscription. All functions are readily available when purchasing a product from this French manufacturer.
