The renewed Microsoft launces iOS app to stream Xbox One games. The new Xbox app for iOS and iPadOS is now available and allows you to stream your Xbox One games to your Apple device.

Microsoft finally allows you to play your Xbox One games on your iPhone or iPad with the revamped Xbox application for Apple’s mobile platforms. This is called the remote play function, which is different from game streaming service Game Pass Ultimate. Where games within that subscription are streamed from the cloud, the games are streamed via remote play from the Xbox One (or a One X or One S) in your living room or bedroom. It’s similar to the feature Sony has been offering to PS4 owners for a while.
Unfortunately, the range of games is limited to real Xbox One games. So you cannot stream older games that were released on the Xbox 360 and the first Xbox. This applies to both iOS and Android users, who were able to do this much earlier.
With the new Microsoft app, it is also possible to operate your Xbox over WiFi or a mobile internet connection, such as 5g. Not only do you take control of your home Xbox, you can also switch it on from a distance. The Xbox One will then turn on, without sound or the LED light turning on. When you have finished gaming, the game console will also switch off and go into standby mode.
Just like the recently launched Android version, the iOS version of the app also gets a new coat of paint, which matches the design language of the Xbox Series X and Series S. It is possible to share screenshots and game clips via social media at lightning speed. In addition, you can even manage your games on your smartphone and remove or install them. The app also simply feels a lot faster than before.
