McIntosh MDA200 Digital Audio Processor D/A Converter launched. The MDA200 DAC oprovides premium digital music playback capabilities

McIntosh MDA200 Digital Audio Processor (DAC)

The MDA200 is a new and refined product developed by the legendary American firm McIntosh for add the best digital sound to any existing music reproduction system or as improvement to a digital audio processor (DAC) that needs to be updated with the latest technology and functionality. Thus, at the heart of the MDA200 we find the reputable DA2 Digital Audio Module from McIntosh, featuring an 8-channel D/A conversion “chip” with 32-bit technology configured in the cash scheme “Quad Balanced”a sophisticated audiophile-grade component that allows maximize dynamic range and minimize the total harmonic distortion. Of the DA2, it is also worth highlighting its full compatibility, via USB, with files encoded in DXD at 384 kHz and in DSD up to DSD512, while its digital and optical inputs can decode music content up to 24 bits/192 kHz.

In addition to including a total of 7 digital inputsincluding an MCT type for connection to compatible SACD McIntosh transport mechanisms, the DA2 also incorporates a audio-only HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) compatible for redefining the sound quality of television programs (with conversion to stereo of multi-channel programs recorded in Dolby or DTS) from compatible televisions. On the other hand, the DA2 is Roon Tested, a feature that can be particularly useful for users with large digital music libraries. In addition, if the evolution and improvement of the formats and technologies related to digital audio make it necessary to develop a new Digital Audio Module, it may replace the DA2 inside the MDA200, thus preserving the investment made for its acquisition.

When it comes to analog connectivity, the new McIntosh DAC includes unbalanced analog outputs with RCA connectors and balanced with XLR connectors for easy connection to an integrated amplifier or a preamplifier. In this sense, it is important to point out that the MDA200 is supplied from the factory in the mode of fixed level outputbut also offers the choice to be configured so that said output is variable, in order to facilitate your connection directly to a power stage in a system that only includes digital sources and therefore does not require the presence of a preamplifier. The new McIntosh, which can be controlled from a handy remote control, is completed with one of the iconic black glass panels and the unmistakable blue backlit level indicators of the New York brand.
