McIntosh introduces the MR89 AM/FM tuner. The high-end audio device includes all kinds of improvements that make listening to the radio even better. For example, adjustments have been made to the sensitivity, the signal-to-noise ratio, the harmonic distortion, the channel selectivity and the stereo separation.
The MR89’s enhanced signal quality monitor can display detailed signal, multipath and noise levels of incoming radio signals for better AM or FM antenna placement. An RAA2 AM antenna is included). In addition, the tuner includes a pair of balanced and unbalanced analog outputs as well as digital coaxial and optical outputs to connect the MR89 to any home audio system. It features exclusive McIntosh radio frequency (RF) circuitry that can receive strong FM signals from nearby stations, avoiding the overload or distortion that can plague lesser tuners. In addition, they can tune in to weaker FM signals with little to no noise.

The features of the MR89 include improved Stereo Blending and the introduction of a “High Blend” option. In addition, there is a soft mute function to boost the audio output of lower quality station inputs and a high cut function for high frequencies. Thanks to the FM Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) support, information about the station and music can be displayed. There is an adjustable search function and you can store more than twenty preset stations.
The two 60 dB output meters show the signal level provided by the analog outputs of each channel, while the volume is controlled by the preamp, integrated amplifier or other control device. The meters on the MR89 accurately reflect the left and right channel audio output generated by the station.
Ideal for amps, turntables and speakers
The black glass front, gauges, knobs and brushed aluminum end caps are all housed in a stainless steel chassis polished with a luxurious mirror finish in McIntosh aesthetic. The MR89 can be combined with a variety of amplifiers, turntables, CD players, home theater processors, room correction devices, speakers and other source components to create a complete home audio system.
